Interesting Facts:
We use many resources and create a lot of waste in maintaining our lawns and gardens. More than 20% of the municipal solid waste stream in the United States is made up of yard waste. In urban areas, lawn and garden watering is a major contributor to summer water demand.

Fertilizer run-off contaminates our lakes and streams and pesticides pose a health risk to us, our pets, and the environment. However, lawn care does not have to create so many problems. There are many ways to reduce use of resources, production of waste, and distribution of toxins in our lawn and garden care.

Here are a few tips to get you thinking and get you started. We encourage you to check out the links below and your local library or book store for more information on how to grow a healthy no-waste lawn and garden.
