Recycle AUTO FLUIDS | |||||||
|
Used motor oil, antifreeze and car batteries are all vehicle wastes that are potentially hazardous, can be recycled and should be disposed of properly. This applies to cars and other machines as well as lawnmowers and boats. Your used oil filter also contains dirty motor oil. Puncture the filter and drain it for 12 to 24 hours. Recycle the oil and throw the drained filter in the trash. Antifreeze can be recycled and should be disposed of properly. Most antifreeze contains ethylene glycol which is toxic. As antifreeze moves through your engine it picks up heavy metals which are toxic to fish and other water organisms. Instead of draining antifreeze on the ground, drain it into a leak-proof container and take it to the Flathead County Landfill recycling drop off site. Ask at the gate for directions or call 758-5910. Did You know? Used motor oil is the single largest source of oil pollution. One pint of oil can produce a one-acre slick on the water. Many places in Flathead County will accept your used motor oil free-of-charge. Call your local auto mechanic or go to one of these drop-off locations: RECYCLE HERE! Antifreeze Transmission Fluid
